Light Source Characterization, Emission: To
characterize light sources or collect emission from a source or sample, a single
monochromator equipped with a detector (PMT) is required. ARC’s
SpectraSense /
SpectraHub package is ideal for
collection and analysis of the source emission. A filter wheel is often added to
eliminate unwanted second order radiation. For extended wavelength coverage, a
monochromator featuring a multiple grating turret and dual exit ports is often
utilized, allowing acquisition from UV through IR. |
 |
Transmittance, Reflectance, Absorbance: In
most cases a single monochromator with a broad band light source and filter
wheel can be used for these applications. An appropriate sample chamber with
detector is needed to complete the system. A source compensation detector is
recommended to improve the stability of the measurements. |

Fluorescence, Luminescence:
In these applications a
monochromator with light source can be used to select the excitation
wavelengths. A filter wheel is recommended for eliminating possible excitation
from second order radiation. Analysis can be performed in a sample chamber or by
using a fiber optic probe.A second monochromator with detector is used to
characterize the sample emission. A second detection channel for source
compensation or dual beam normalization |
